Who doesn’t love a healthy nutritious satisfying breakfast bowl with a sprinkling of Lean Luxury? I loved my breakfast bowl so much I then had Breakfast for Dinner. This morning my Lean Luxury Breakfast Tray Fit for a Lady was inspired by a new cookbook Bowls of Plenty: Recipes for Healthy and Delicious Whole-Grain Meals
. I cooked up a big batch of quinoa in the rice cooker and then mixed about a cup with some homemade yogurt and topped it with fresh raspberries, toasted walnuts, pecans, pistachio nuts and pumpkin seeds. Quick, easy, health and delicious – I am keeping small portions of quinoa in the freezer and if you don’t have homemade yogurt a good quality pot of yogurt will work just as well.
I feel like this is just the beginning of my friendship with Bowls of Plenty – these healthy and tasty recipes are soon to be family favorites I’m sure. They fit right in with the Lean Luxury philosophy – healthy because they are healthy – rather that healthy because they have been engineered that way. I’m going to be cooking from this book in February if you fancy joining in purchase a copy of the book and leave a comment to join the club. My friend Pam has already discovered this book thanks to me being a raving fan of it and cooked up supper for her family that she couldn’t believe was so good.
It’s not often I get a new cookbook that really excites me as much as Bowls of Plenty. It’s not just all the sumptuous photographs – of which there are many. Each one doing what food photography in a cookbook should do – and that’s make you want to make the dish. It’s the straightforward, no nonsense approach to cooking. I guess the fact that Carolynn has a long list of cookbooks she’s written with the likes of Nancy Silverton and Ben Ford shows the pedigree of this cookbook author,Mozza at Home: More than 150 Crowd-Pleasing Recipes for Relaxed, Family-Style Entertaining
, The Mozza Cookbook: Recipes from Los Angeles’s Favorite Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria
, Taming the Feast: Ben Ford’s Field Guide to Adventurous Cooking
.
I want to cook up everything – from Birdies Oatmeal Cocktail to the Rainbow Carrot Salad and the Build your own Middle Eastern Bowl – it all looks and sounds delicious. Feel free to cook along with me and let me know how you get on in the comments below.
