Go Fish! For Japan with Top LA chefs

Michael Cimarusti (Providence) has set the date – Sunday 5th June – for more fishing fun!

I am excited to announce that we are going fishing with a who’s who of Los Angeles chefs and if you are lucky enough to hook one of our VIP tickets ($100) you can come too. The boat departs from San Pedro at 6.30am and we will meet at the dock at 6.00am – you really don’t want to miss this boat.

So far Michael Cimarusti and Donato Poto (Providence), Alain Giraud (Maison Giraud), Andrea Cavaliere (Cecconi’s), Brian Moyers (BLT) and Dave Dahni (Grilled Cheese Truck) – have all signed on – there are many others who have yet to get back to me to confirm but I shall update as the confirmations come in.

Donato Poto and Chef Michael Cimarusti – Providence

Here’s who’s fished with us before – Josiah Citrin (Melisse), Neal Fraser (Grace), David Lefevre ( MB Post), Stephen Fretz (XIV), Chef Ben Ford (Ford’s Filling Station), Craig Min (LA Mill), Adam, Doug and Edwin from The Bazaar, The Truffle Brothers and our very own mixologist for the boat Matthew Biancaniello (Roosevelt Hotel). I will update the list as I get confirmations.

For this fundraising fishing trip with LA’s best chefs the tickets are $100– with any money after costs going to Japan relief – if people would like to donate on top of this that would be great and there will be a collection on the boat.

Michael Cimarusti has been to Japan twice in the last couple of years and is going to show us the Japanese technique of IKE JIME – the spinal cord and main blood vessels are severed at the head and tail, a long needle is pushed down the spinal cord, and the fish is placed in ice water to bleed out… enough said!

They get to come if they bring along some delicious tasty treats for us all to share for breakfast. Truffle sliders, gourmet grilled mac n cheese sandwiches, the best chocolate chip cookies from Providence, LA Mill iced coffee and Dark and Stormy cocktails were highlights of previous trips – this year we are hoping for some great breakfast snacks, perhaps some eggs over easy on the griddle, a fresh peach bellini and maybe even something Nitro or out of a Pacojet?

When fishing or eating or drinking the chefs will multi task and share recipe ideas for the catch and there will be a prize for the biggest fish caught.
If you would like the opportunity to fish with this esteemed bunch you’ll have to act fast we are only offering a limited number of VIP tickets ($100), on a first come, first served basis.

Alain Giraud on the Monte Carlo

You bring: A rod (available to hire on the boat $15)  and a fishing license (available to buy online $14.04), sunscreen, and a smile!

As well as the treats the Chefs are bringing aboard there are drinks (including beer) and food sold on the boat. All ticket sales are non-refundable.
*Final chef list to be confirmed.
No bananas allowed on board – Chef Cimarusti says it’s bad luck and we’ll make you walk the plank.

Remember to check back for more details in the next few days as more chefs are added and the menu starts to take shape.
