One Month, One Week and One day:
Get Lean 40 Day Lean Luxury Lifestyle Delicious Diet Diary
That’s the time between today and when I next see Minty, 40 days. I have decided to use this time to lose a few pounds, tone up and get healthy and blog about my journey. It’s kind of like my own personal Lent – 40 days to Get Lean and reset. In addition to devoting a little more time and effort to my health and well being I also have the added incentive of being in a swimsuit in December – eek! Dreams really do come true. For my birthday Didier gave me a trip to Bora Bora, Tahiti – I mean if that’s not the incentive a girl needs what is?
So how exactly shall I go about this bikini ready, 40 day transformation, without starving myself and climbing the walls craving sugar, toast and cake? This is really all I want to eat most days for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Trust me, just thinking about that aquamarine water and the South Pacific breeze really helps… some much needed family time in paradise.
Three simple rules to live by:
1. Three delicious, nutritious Lean Luxury meals a day: Breakfast Tray Fit for a Lady, Lean Lunches and Winner Winner, Healthy Dinner.
This means a lot of eggs for breakfast, salads and soups for lunch and chicken or fish and veggies for supper. Sounds simple but believe me it’s not – the key is making the food I can eat really tempting and pretty. On top of that it’s time to clear the house of anything that will sabotage my good intentions – ice cream, Halloween candy, cakes and pies no more… I’m devoting my baking time to creations I will give away – birthday cakes for friends, pies for neighbors and cookies for gifts – because one thing September and October taught me is I love baking but the creations from Ottolenghi’s new book SWEET have been all too tempting.
2. Get Active: Minimum of 1 mile a day – walk, jog, sprint or cycle…
There will be many early morning hikes up into Griffith Park, lots of jumping for joy and a few Soul Cycle classes to get very sweaty in.
3. Lots and lots of water and tea – no alcohol (yup no rosé, champagne or wine for these first few weeks).
I’m adding fresh mint from the garden to my iced water, I’m brewing lots of tea to stave off the boredom and I will treat myself to champagne sundowners in Tahiti as a reward.

So there it is – Day one of 40 – I am going to try to post every day what I eat and how I’m getting on. I’m thinking this will keep me on track and motivate me – if you’d like to join in please let me know and we can motivate each other.
