Cheat’s Custard – Quick Creme Anglaise
Rémy would probably deem this Cheat’s Custard a life hack – one of those quick cheats that never fails – and it’s utterly delicious too. I have often served this with dessert at a dinner party and my guests are non the wiser. I have been known to serve the kids custard from a can for breakfast – no I didn’t add cream – but it is considered a delicacy in our house. Thick yellow creamy custard with a hint of vanilla – plus when you add the vanilla paste you get tiny black dots of vanilla in the custard which makes people think you slaved over the stove stirring up a real custard. Living in California I definitely keep any extra few cans of Ambrosia Devon custard in my earthquake kit too – hopefully we won’t need it but if and when the big one hits I will be happy to eat my custard straight from the tin.
How to Make Cheat’s Custard
1 can Ambrosia Devon Custard
1 cup Organic cream
1 tablespoon vanilla paste
Combine all the ingredients in a fancy jug and chill in the refrigerator until needed.
Serve over the top of the crumble. No one will ever know!
