This dish was inspired by dinner at Mozza. A favorite game I play is trying to recreate dishes at home and this one is a winner. The acid of the vinegar and the spicy chili flakes dresses up a would be boring but healthy side dish and turns it into a stand alone light lunch – still healthy but one that will make you happy! Thanks Nancy and Mario for the inspiration.
Servings 2
6 stems of broccolini [florets of broccoli will work]
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon honey
½ teaspoon chili flakes
Fleur de sel and freshly ground pepper to taste
Pre-heat the oven to 400 F
Cut and wash the stems of broccolini and put in an oven proof dish. Pour the olive oil, vinegar and honey over the top and coat stems, sprinkle with the chili flakes.
Bake in the top of the oven for 10 – 15 minutes until the broccolini is soft and almost charred.
Serve immediately.
